NEW COMMUNITIES AT CYPRESS POND

Originally, New Communities - as it was known - served as a shining example of collective farming starting in the late 1960s. It was, at the time, the largest Black-owned landholding in the country, and the first land trust ever stateside. Discriminatory loan practices led to its loss. Despite the setback, the farm's founders remained true to the guiding principles, that gave way to the rebirth of the farm now known as 'New Communities at Cypress Pond'.
